Hi chaps and chapesses,

I was helping a friend move into his new place the other day and in the loft we found a roof mounted police light amongst other stuff that the previous owner left behind, my question is, where to sell it?
I've tried ebay and they took off my listing, stating it breached their T&Cs.

Would anyone know where to advertise it? Thought a TV company or such like would want it.

Thanks, David.

Not surprised Ebay delisted the parts they do not like any questionable kit since the DNKY disaster hit them.

You could try Pistonheads or Gumtree. They may be more understanding.

Lots of owners club sites around for classic police cars - I'd google them and start there

First you'd need to find out if it is legal to sell.

When police cars get scrapped they usually remove anything someone could use to impersonate a police vehicle.

Of course it is legal to sell. Dont make things up and then say them on the internet.

OP: I might be interested, Im looking particularly for an old type Klaxon (gee-gar) horn.

What was the DNKY disaster exactly? A quick google revealed nothing...

Apologies due to a malfunction in the central processing unit of my brain I identified the wrong Fashion Group that won a massive case against ebay.

It was LVMH NOT DNKY.

Correction below

JUNE 30, 2008:

A French court ordered eBay to pay 40m euros (£31.6m; $63m) to luxury goods group LVMH (Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Givenchy) for allowing online auctions of fake copies of its goods

see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7481241.stm.

Ebay massively altered their tolerance of fake goods after this case.

whats that got to do with a set of police sirens which will not have a patent/trademark?

Also: it is DKNY (Donna Karan New York), a diversification brand of Donna Karan, DNKY ffs. That doesnt make it any more relevant though, as counterfeit handbags and watches and old blues and twos have nothing to do with each other.

eBay wants an easy life - thats why they dont want to sell any contentious items.

As an aside: DKNY has been part of LVMH for the last ten years! biggrin

Stick them on the roof rack to keep them out of the way until you decide what to do with them.

What did I make up?

I don't see jam jar police cars being sold, nor do the unmarked ones come with blues and twos.

I said to check the legality.

Don't overreact to things and post them on the internet.
