Hi all,

First post here but been reading the site for a while. I've just seen something which annoyed me so much I had to post about it...

The new 1 Series advert ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wpe5NenqycI ) Why do marketing people think two idiots poncing around will sell a car? "My brother just drinks espresso" Great, but what about the car?
Shame, as its a nice little car (save for the front end), but who'd want to look like one of these t**ts?

I saw this and was quite put off. The car seems to be advertised as an extension of your personality/success as opposed to being a great car. I now know a lot about the guy and his brother, but fk all about the car mad

Have to agree, I saw it the other day, just toe curling to watch.

The front end of that thing is nasty too, seems to be a cross between a Mole Rat and a boseyed Alfa 146 to me, really doesn't work on it.

I think BMW's designer might be suffering from sort of eye related condition. Blindness, maybe.

Good shout on the mole rat, that's all I'll see when I look at that car now. I thought things were meant to improve after Bangle left?

The advert has clearly worked, your thinking about the 1 series, your thinking about BMW. That is advertising.

True, I just wish manufacturers would stop selling me a bloody lifestyle though. It might have us talking about the car, but I bet it'll put a few people off smile

Presumably if you don't like the characters you'll spend more time admiring the shine.

I much prefer the older shape. All cars of the same brans these days seem to be becoming similar - the fronts ends especially. I think its a real shame.

Actually I can reveal i work in BMW advertising department and i am somewhat disappointed in our failure to put our message across in our recent advertising campaign

So I have here some rushes of our next advert and i am willing to share it here on piston heads if you promise not to reveal it to other forums.

So the link is here

How about our new marketing slogan

"Its better in the rear"

Do you think that helps

yes it sounds great
Honesty is the best policy, I'm just surprised it has taken this long for a company like BMW to become true to itself

just to add
the sooner Mercedes start advertising to lesbians the better, instead of it all being done subliminally
