Dear All,
Well now true blood petrolheads will want to support my e-petition. If we can get 100,000 signatures we could make it a law!

Go here and sign up and get as many of your friends to do it as well, exercise your democratic rights to a free clear road ahead! (ps its only open to UK citizens so thanks for overseas support but you can't vote)

Fully agree Paul but as the highway code says

"Rule 238: You should drive in the left-hand lane if the road ahead is clear. Return to the left-hand lane once you have overtaken all the vehicles or if you are delaying traffic behind you".

it's already illegal, just unenforced.

Wouldn't it be better to petiition for us to be able to overtake in any lane, the problem goes away then.

The US seem to cope with it just fine, and when traffic start passing you on both sides you tend to gravitate to Lane 1

No really it wouldn't because every lane would end up doing 60mph all the time.

The law is fine how it is, it just needs to be enforced.

+1

by dudes on motorway bridges with bazookas

The current situation is far far more dangerous than the US style of over/under-taking.

The highway code is not law in its self. Where a rule is backed by law there is usally a bold 'must' in the rule. Which the above rule doesn't have. So it's not illegal.

Think the bazooka idea is the best one.

I'm well up for the bazooka as well tank

My understanding is that a breach of anything in the highway code can lead to a due care charge so not necessary for there to be a separate specific charge available, happy to be corrected on that one boxedin

Signed. With proper enforcement, it will improve motorway flow and alleviate stress.

Simply use those bloody expensive signs that tell you there's a traffic jam ahead when there isn't, or fog when there isn't, or rain when there... Stick a notice up which says KEEP LEFT and you'd be surprised how many people respond.

Also, paint KEEP LEFT every couple of miles on the motoroway surface itself. It'd work.

I'm not in favour of any more laws. The highway code has enough weight to it for Police to react, however I'm not really in favour of any more Police on the motorways either - they generally take exception to my speed.

The public is generally just daft. Give them some repeated instructions and most will react accordingly.

If you want a law that will make numpties make suicidal lunges into the inside lane no matter wether it is safe or not go for it.

If you think we have a need for more laws considering the thousands the last lot of numpties created go for it

We already have driving without due care and attention which nicely covers MLM.

MUST in above would make the whole rule enforceable. Your due care and attention is all good but nobody gives a fkizle and that's why doesn't matter how many lanes the motorway has there always will be a muppet driving in a second to last offside lane reducing the number of usable lanes to two. That should be treated as a crime against humanity.

Things the problem is worst than just middle lane hoggers, outside lane hoggers are major problem now too.
Way more selfish and inconsiderate than middle lane hoggers.

For them the bazooka is just to 'humane'

So you never encountered a numptie that panic brakes for a speed camera despite the fact they are 10Mph below the speed lmit

Obstruction of the Queens Highway is already a criminal offence.
