The dealer wants £50 if I go for Euro plates - a rip off!
If I go with the sticker will it damage the paint work?

Any ideas/link on getting Euro Plates cheaper?

Thanks

My plates cost around £17 from a local motor factors, much neater than a sticker in my opinion.

Do what I did - buy a 'GB' euro sticker for your existing plates - assuming you have room on your usual UK plates... avalible on ebay for about £5-£10.

halfords do them as well...

I use a magnetic GB sign. No damage to paintwork that I've noticed.

Good shout. Although £17 not bad for plates either.

Thanks gents.

That's what I do.

If you buy a travel kit that has everything you need when driving abroad they come with them.

Is this a main dealer who wishes to charge £50 for these plates?

£50 is p*ss-taking. Less than £11 posted and quick delivery for a pair of Euro plates, all legal font, etc: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NUMBER-PLATES-DESPATCHED...

I've got them on my car and campervan and quality is spot on.

Reading between the lines, I take it that there's some sort of requirement to do this when driving abroad now?

I've been driving out there for many years and have never bothered.

Apparently.

Its all over the walls there, in the toilets, entrances, shops..

Euro plates we charge £20 a pair, which I dont think is mad, and we will fit them!

However, when Im abroad, as I have a private plate on the landcruiser, I tend to stick GB sticker in the rear window!

I got one from Halfords (I think) that sticks on the inside of the rear window.

Remember, if you go for plates with the GB logo, you only need it on the rear plate. Nothing looks more chavvy than a plate with the GB logo on the front (OK, maybe one with the England/Scotland/Welsh flag/dragon does).

I did too but it wouldn't stick to my aluminium tailgate (I didn't know it was aluminium before I tried this though).
