Everyone whinges about cyclists, bikers and BMW drivers...but we rarely see a thread about lorry drivers?
They keep crashing on the motorways inconveniencing 1000's of motorists. They jackknife in winter closing roads. When they indicate on the motorway you'd better fking move cos they don't wait.
They overtake each other with a 0.5mph speed differential.
But no...that's fine - you'd rather moan about someone who flashed their lights cos you overtook them?

Because they bring le food and le things we need to live as a society. + Its quite a demanding job and iirc quite hard to drive a lorry.

Because they have a job to do. Without lorry drivers we wouldn't have food on shelves or clothes in shops - pretty much everything is moved around on the roads really.

If car drivers were a little more considerate of the fact that it takes a lorry a LONG time to accelerate/brake/turn and factor in the massive blind spots, then things would probably flow a lot better on the motorways.

Think you'll find that the reason for the overtaking at 0.5mph speed differential is that both trucks are running at their speed-limiter point. If one limiter is set for just 0.5mph more, then that's all the differential they can use.

Perfect examples are to be found on the A34 dual-carriageway from Winchester to Oxford, any day, any time, of the week.

Do you want me to generically rip in to car drivers with wild accusations based on the things I see every day without fail when I'm driving my truck? Doubtful.

I think Bus drivers that drive at 20mph because they are ahead of time are far more annoying, just stop at some bus stops out of everyones way if you have to waste time.

Think you'll find that they don't have to run at their speed-limiter point and don't have to overtake.

maybe its because the bus cant go more than 20mph, hell i drive buses that struggle to make it into double figures on any sort of incline

The bulk of them are ok, but if there's an accident on the m25 it's always a lorry, they get sucked into driving nose to tail like all the knobend car drivers. M25 was closed today for that very reason

TBH I think lorrys could be driven alot worse generally speaking it takes alot of forsight to drive something that big slow and unresponsive but you rarely see them pulling out infron of people or having to brake behind another truck or hogging the middle lane for no reason as car drivers often do bus drivers on the other hand bunch of wkers you wouldn't pull out from being parked at the side of the road with no regard for what is passing you in a car so why do these monkeys choose to do it in buses bunch of tossers

I agree with the op. Why the fk do they feel the need to drive at 56.2mph rather than 55.9? And to maintain that 0.3mph differential they won't hesitate to pull out on you with a deft manoeuvre, signal, mirror. s.

Can you tell I spent a couple of hours on the A14 today?

Funny isn't it ? I was only pointing out a fact, and some pillock tried to make a 'why don't they ....?' point out of it. I suggest you try driving for a time as a truck driver, and see if you could stand not overtaking .... [No, I'm not a truckie myself ....]

A car driver recently emailed a pic of the back of my truck to the company after i

alledgedly "almost drove her off the road"

While a very valid point, when a car driver makes a howler, hopefully it's a 3 second inconvenience.

It's the blatant ignoring of MSM that does my head in.

That said I'm always in awe of the skill the drivers have at work, especially when they have to line up with a machine that slides inside the trailer with inches of clearance either side.
I agree. There are some terrible truck drivers out there, but I can 100% say, hand on heart, that the average car driver is worse than the average lorry driver.

Anyway, this is going to turn in to the annual bash the truckers thread, so I'm out. frown

nah, these are pretty new, single deckers that would eaisly do 60 mph & it's on the flat road to my work it happens on. They normally go at a decent speed & are no problem.
