hey

me and my family were wondering how much our plates would be worth. i had a look at some other plates with very similar letters but would like to know exactly. we arent getting rid of them be would just like to know. i had a look or google for sites that value plates but lots of them want money or want me to send off lots of details which im not comfortable with doing, can anybody on here help?

are there any free sites that you guys have used and found very good?

thanks

If you send your reg numbers for a quote, its normaly done through a poota, so the poota does not know if that reg spells a name etc, it just goes on the letters.

If your keeping them why do you want to know what they are worth.

just out of curiosity really, we would just like to know if they have gained any value or not.

What are the plates? I'm sure you'd get some ideas of prices from people on here!

D1 *** go for about a grand on dvla site.

DDD 17 is probably worth at least 3k, you just have find someone wanting it. But that's a neat plate.

This is the whole issue with plate valuations, to actually realise the valuation in cash you have to find someone who wants it. While D1*** has an asking price of £1000, it may be there for years without selling. For the DVLA this doesn't matter, they have millions listed and sell a few thousand, but if you need to sell one those prices are virtually unnatainable.
When people want to sell, the only feasible way is to list on ebay and you're likely to get around 30% of the DVLA asking price for initials type plates, vehicle type plates (JAG etc) tend to do a bit better.
