Would a kind trader like to do me a favour - car valuation
Discussion
I hope it's ok to ask this here?
I'm hoping to trade in my car and I'd like a fairly accurate idea of how much it would cost to trade in. I realise I can use Parkers or Glasses guide but they're often not quite accurate, I'm more than happy to pay for the services though (I'm not being a cheapskate!)
The car is as follows

Thanks, that's why I was hoping for an accurate idea of what a dealer would consider 'fair and reasonable' so I can determine whether they're taking the piss or not. I realise they'll sting me whichever way but we can't be bothered selling privately as it's too much hassle.MagicalTrevor said:

If PH is to be believed there is no such thing as a "kind trader". As you asked so nicely I'll have a go. Assuming Manual.
Glass's Guide give as near as makes no difference £14k trade. Although this is based on a five door, and I would still expect the figure you will be offered will be closer to £13k. My guide "book" does not give a value for the three door model (I guess the online versions might).
Personally I would pay about £1k less for a three door compared to five because I think I will be selling to a smaller market, although a main dealer may see it totally different to me, and pay much closer to book money, less any amount required to be spent on it.
All goes to show there is no such thing as an accurate valuation, just different peoples opinions.
Good luck with it.
What are you buying?
Thank you KMC, that's very helpful. It appears that the values you've quoted maybe in-line with the finance remaining. I'm buying an Elise so the next difficulty is finding a specialist willing to trade.
The issue I have with a private sale is the hassle but also having to bother clearing the finance before being able to sell as I understand this to be a bit of a pain? Unless somebody can explain how it would work?
Thanks again everyone
