Evening all, just about to order some new rear tyres for the BMW, I'm torn between these two.

Falken:

Vredstein:
http://camskill.co.uk/m61b0s22p12436/VREDESTEIN_TY...

I'm thinking Vredstein, how cool does that tyre tread look??

Anyone running these tyres or had both?

Thanks
dan

No knowledge of the Vredesteins I'm afraid, but have been very happy with Falken 452's for the last few years. A great improvement over what I had before, and good value.

also a happy FK452 customer.

Had them on mondeo st, fiesta st, and audi a6 now. they're excellent, especially for the money.

Again, can't comment on the Vreds, but the Fk452's on my 330i lasted about 12k and were great on a hoon, in the wet and excellent in the dry.

Hmm... well timed thread; I have 452s at the moment but thinking on changing to the Sessanta's when the tyres need changing in a month or so - heard good things about them (check the Tyre Wiki). 452s are good, but noisy on my car. Sessanta's are supposed to be just as good performance wise but quieter.

Having tried Falken 452's on my old M5 3.5 and my Spec C Impreza (300 bhp) I can recommend them, good in dry and good in wet, felt ok when pushing on/power sliding.

I found the Sessantas marginally more grippy perhaps, but they tend to last literally half as long and the 452s are certainly not a bad tyre.

At my tyre size though the Sessanta's cost about 50% more so it's usually not worth it, I'd be tempted at that price difference.

I have the Vreds on the front of my B5 RS4 and find them excellent all round.
Superb in the wet and dry. Never had a spot of trouble with them.

I found mine for £120 a tyre in 255/35/18.

Can't comment on 452's (although I'm about to purchase a set of 912's for my OH's car) but I've had sessantas on my last 2 cars and they're fantastic.

Another bonus is the Sessanta has a chunky bead to protect your rim from kerbing, the falken tyre isn't half as chunky. (compared side to side on same type of car, same wheels/size)

Can you comment on the wear of the Sessantas?

I changed to the Falkens last year for my Ferrari and the tread is still at about 6.5mm (on the rears!) after 1 year and about 4k miles. I was shocked when I checked yesterday.

Got Vreds on rear of my BMW. Second set, no complaints, good all rounder and the tread does look cool!

Both offer excellent performance for the money with the Sessanta being the better for ultimate grip. I currently have 452's on the rear and Sessanta's on the front (FWD) , the 452 life span is only average however this is more than compensated for by their price. There is a problem with the 452's however, they are have poor performance in snow, it is so bad I will not buy them again.

I've got Vreds on my 968 and have found them to be excellent - am just about to put another pair on the rear.

Had Goodyear F1's before which I liked but prefer these. Seem very good in both dry & wet. Hard to tell about noise levels as the car is a CS so not exactly the quietest car anyway but I don't recall them being worse than the F1's.

Had FK452's on both my 350z and my old MG ZT. Decent set of rubber IMO.

Got 452s on the back of my Porsche 944 Turbo, they have done over 20k miles and are still going strong, with a mix of motorway and enthusastic driving...
