Hi I have a nice car and it spends most of the time on my drive. I have often seen similar cars advertised for hire on prestige sites.

So I was thinking maybe someone would be willing to pay to use my vehicle when I,m not using it.

Do you think I should approach one of these firms or do they get their cars from new?

If your cars on hp/lease then it'll be on the T&C's of the agreement that the car can't be used for 3rd party hire etc. All rental companies I know buy their own vehicles directly and haven't heard of them loaning cars as I guess its a question of guaranteeing quality for the end user.
If your cars a Ferrari or something equaly prestigeous then you might get some interest from track day experience companies.

What do you mean by "prestige"? I think you can do, many of the cars used on experience days are privately owned. Or you could hire it out yourself.

I think the main problems are a) insurance and b) the fact that it's going to get treated like a hire car so its going to get thrashed from cold and the tyres and clutches are going to last about 5 minutes.

Thats assuming its something sporty, if it's something luxury then that won't apply as much but i still wouldn't want my car being driven by a stranger unless it was for a lot of money. But you probably wouldnt get much money if the hire company takes a big cut.

It's a Porsche Cayman S and is about a year old.

Track days it would get thrashed to bits.

I was thinking about weekend road hire or weddings etc.
