Hi all, as above my Ignis Sport is starting to feel rather slow (it is) and im a bit bored of it so I want something a bit more spritely the trouble is I,ve been driving nearly two years but the first year was just the works van so I still dont have any NCB so insurance is rather high so I dont want to get anything above about group 14-15 insurance and I dont want anything older than about 2002.

The quickest I can find is the Corolla T Sport, Suggestions please

Dont just go by insurange groups, they are not an exact science.

What is your budget and what do you want from the car?

Stick some wild cards into an insurance comparison website - see what is affordable.

Try some bigger, older cars.

Volvo T5?
Old jags?
TVR Cerbera 4.5? (Just for a laugh biglaugh)

Ignore Insurance groups if you're under 21 they base it on how many under 21's have :

Crashed etc in that particular car aswell as being stolen whilst in their ownership etc.

so you'll find a big 150mph 250bhp Volvo T5 will be similar to insure as a a swift sport etc.

I,ve tried the T5s but insurance is still too much about 3.5k where as the T Sport is about 1k less, still stupidly expensive but doable and I,m 22 BTW

20 Years ago in the days of the cossie a magazine ran a feature and they visited Graham Goode Racing.Alistar Mayne the workshop manager stated that a customer would come in for a stage 1 upgrade to 270bhp, and were quite happy as they drove off.A couple of months later same customer would be back for a stage 2 as their car felt slow and needed more power. Some people will never have enough.....

RX-8? Cheap and plentiful. Horrific fuel consumption though.

I think until you get supercar speeds you'll always eventually want more.

The T-Sport will drive you insane on the motorway , even in 6th gear it's 20mph for every 1000 rpm so 80 mph is 4000rpm which is very buzzy . Great for b-roads or track but not good on a long commute

The car would have been so much better if they'd have made 1st - 5th gear close ratio and 6th as a proper overdrive / cruising gear

Anything with the 1.8t engine in is a good shout.

Depending on the variant they may not be very fast as standard, but a simple remap and they are.

As an example, my SEAT Ibiza FR is 150bhp standard, remapped it is now 215bhp and quicker than most hot hatches (In a straight line!) Its only insurance group 12 or something and it only cost me £100 extra for the remap.

I had a Yaris T Sport before this which as you may know is very similar to the Ignis Sport.

Also just FYI, my Ibiza is for sale as I want a MINI! check the for sale section or PM me.

Even then, it soon starts to go from 'insane' to feeling normal...

just for a laugh, how much is the insurance on an MR2 Turbo? Say a 1996, unmodified, jap import MR2 Turbo.

probably will be a scary number, but you never know.
