Crash today, Claiming for something unusual :-)
Discussion
So had a collision today:

Woman admitted full liability after cutting across in front of me, well through me and all is getting sorted.
Passed to the claims management company who are being really helpful and asked if I needed to claim for anything like loss of earnings etc.
So I asked if I could claim for the increase on my premiums for the next five years on the basis that if she hadn't hit me, I wouldn't have had to pay extra insurance over the next five years, all be it a small amount it is still a cost that is directly caused by the collision.
They agreed and said it is something they have never ever been asked about, he went off to check with someone and has asked me to get comparative quotes for the next couple of years and they will go from there...
Has anyone else thought of this/tried to claim/claimed for this, what do you think my chances are? The Claim management company seem to think it's worth pursuing and there should be little argument that it is a cost caused by and therefore a responsibility of the other parties insurance!

I'm surprised that this hasn't been picked up before as another opportunity for profiteering from the claim management companies tbh. But now that you've given them the idea... yet more insurance price rises look like they're on the way. That's pessimism for you
Good luck with the claim in any case.

he did ask me several times about injuries and reminded me a few times after that I have 3 years to claim, and that at the slightest ache I should ring them immediately...
Good luck with the claim in any case.
So this is my Whiplash claim, and it's robbing the insurance companies to pay the insurance companies, you never know, if everyone starts claiming this, they might stop charging extra for non-fault claims, actually they will probably increase it and say "well your claiming the increase...."
As for the approach to the roundabout, why she didn't just go right round is beyond me!!
I'm in the middle of an insurance claim just now and am claiming for uninsured losses, eg excess and rental of the car I'm driving justnow (allbeit its a car my dads lent to me, don't tell the insurance company). The insurance company seem to be well on board with these claims, I think its quite likley that you will manage to extort a bit more money through this medium, esp considering the woman has accepted full liability.
Best of luck anyway pal, let us know how it goes.

I honestly think it's genius to claim for it and I wish I had thought about it when some crashed into the OH when she was stationary in my car. In that case her insurance went up because she'd been involved in an accident and my insurance went up because she was now a higher risk and I'd made a claim. I was really annoyed at the time but if I'd thought of this then it wouldn't have bothered me so much.
It would be really hard to calculate though because of various changes to peoples policies etc, for example we are now on a multi car policy instead of 2 separate one's so it's hard to say what the difference really is now. Although it's roughly £50 if I try online quotes with and without the claim.
The sensible thing to do would be for the insurance companies to not load premiums for non fault claims but that's far too much like common sense.

If you were in the left hand lane, why were you taking the 3rd exit?
It's straight on, and the same road, no arrows approaching stating it's left turn only.If you were in the left hand lane, why were you taking the 3rd exit?
Why would you argue that the left lane is for the two exits at the top of the image ONLY???
ETA:
This discussion is already in progress judging by my quick google:
PH Thread about roundabouts
And whichever way you look at it, the right lane is certainly not for taking the second exit!!!

When I was learning to drive a fair few moons ago I was always told if going straight on at a roundabout with no lane markings that you should use the left hand lane, as this is basically straight on and also a 2 lane exit straight on, the right lane should be used for right hand turns and straight on into the RH lane.If you were in the left hand lane, why were you taking the 3rd exit?
if that makes sense.

If there's no arrows to say both lanes straight ahead i'd always take the right hand lane. Maybe something i picked up incorrectly but reckon it's good practice.

Interesting, In the one above I'd use whichever was least congested for the straight on (back onto the dual carriageway) left lane for exit one, two and lane 1 of exit three, right lane for lane 2 of exit three, exit four and back on yourself (U-Turn).If there's no arrows to say both lanes straight ahead i'd always take the right hand lane. In my eyes, anything past 180degrees is right turn, upto and including 180degrees is left lane, with dual carrigeways both can be used for the relative lanes upto 180 degrees.
This only applies to roundabouts with two lanes on the approach.
