I'm not quite there yet and I would hope that if I did have kids that they would think that my cars are as cool as I do but if you have kids, what cars that you own or their friends parents own do they love (or hate)?

My dad never had a cool car when I was at school. We used to have a Plums & Custard Citroen 2CV which I loved when my dad first got it but found a bit embarassing by the time I was about 14/15. Fortunately I got the bust to school most days. My friend's dad used to run old bangers. At one point he had not one but two Skoda Estelles (a beige and an apricot coloured one). My friends hated it and eventually he gave in to the pressure and replaced them with a Sierra (respectable) and a grey Rover 800 saloon (quite a smart car in the early 90s).

Other highlights owned by friend's parents were a Series 1 Discovery, white 7-Series, black M100 Lotus Elan (which was replaced by a Ford Maverick for some reason) and one lucky friend's dad had a 1970s Aston Martin V8 Vantage followed by an XJS Convertible.

However that was 15-20 years ago, what cars that you own do your kids love (or hate) now and do they share the same taste as you in cars?

My niece (6 y/o) HATES any silver car. No idea why, must be a bit mad.
For some reason I didn't like red ferrari's when I was younger. I think i'll still take my F355 in TDF blue rather than rosso corsa, but that's many years away!

I have a 2.5 year old daughter who LOVES going in my classic Mini - first time I took her out in it she said "this is exciting!" and she keeps saying "make it faster!" and "make it roar!". She was out with her mother the other day and saw a new MINI and said "my daddy has a car like that", thankfully she was corrected and told that it's a bit like Daddies car, but not the same.

She'll be heartbroken when she realises it's gone frown

my little lad (3yo) loves old beetles, campers, and lupo's to the point that he still asks where all the ones I've sold have gone even years after getting rid of them he also loved tunnel running in my civic in birmingham while my o/h was faffing in the town centre and I didn't want to pay for parking :-)
he reckognises fast cars and bikes ie ferrari's lambo's and lesser models of that sort of shape (mr2's and things) and just says oooooo that's fast isn't it and the same for sports bikes

Not my kid, but my other half's nephew.

He's five and we took him to Brands Hatch a few weeks ago to see racing cars.

As we wandered around the paddock he was taking photos of cars on my digital camera.

I pointed out a gleaming Ferrari 599 to him and said "Ooh, look at that car...".

He replied, in a very unimpressed voice at first, "Mmm-hmm. LOOK... GOLF BUGGY!!", then rushed away to take a photo of a flippin' golf buggy! rolleyeslaugh

Kids, in general, have the best taste in cars. They have no preconceptions (right or wrong) of brand prestige, or whether a car is fun drive or will fall to bits, or whether it can do 0-60 in less than five secs. They just look at the shape and listen to the noise and make a snap decision, and thank god they do.

Good sign tbh - she won't want a car in dull resale silver biggrin

Won't make a great fleet manager, mind.

My son loves BMWs, mainly because I do... And my stepdaughter likes 'Pink convertibubbles'... I am supposed to buy a pink convertible next... As long as it is not a BM-stupid-W!

My 4 year old son has this thing where the bigger the wing on the back of the car, the quicker it is. Suffice to say, he really likes the Plymouth Superbird, which he has seen in GT5 on the PS3.

As per the previous post, he also likes Minis (old and new)

My god son who is four thought my green Focus RS was the coolest car in the world, I am also his dad's best man (hes an usher) and when asked what colour he wanted his gear for the wedding, he replied "Green like Lance's car, All green, Green shoes, Green trousers, Green jacket...." hehe

My ex Girlfriends young cousin (about 7)came in my Cerbera and claimed it was "The coolest car ever, way cooler than a Ferrari!!", when I dropped him home he instructed me to wait one minute and then raced up the street to knock all his mates doors, after a minute or two I pulled off to an audience of around 12 cheering kids hehe

My daughter has always had good taste. When she was about 18 months old she got really upset because Kate had to change her Cappuccino. Then a year later when we were in the local VW garage to test drive a Passat, we were sat in the showroom when Megan jumped up, grabbed her booster seat and started to drag it to the door, someone had turned up in an Exige and she wanted a go in that!

My son, however, displays a limited interest in cars, anything with a spoiler is cool, Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc but not much else. I'm hoping that this will change over the years!

I like that biggrin
Red things also go faster than other colours and stripes are good for an extra 5mph
