Driving Experience Days
Discussion
Morning all,
Looking to buy a driving experience day for a friend's birthday. Has anyone been on one that they can recommend ?
Just looking for something that involves driving a couple of cars for not too short a time ! Budget around £350 so sadly palmer sport is out, and he's pretty tall so single seaters are out too.
Cheers !

Silverstone rally school was excellent, obviously there's nothing prestige to drive but you get loads of seat time and get to go properly sideways all day in a stripped out MK2 Escort!

Mercedes World.
Went there twice, they do some great driving experiences in all the AMG cars, aswell as a SLS AMG one which is£1200 though. Brother done one in a convertible AMG and he enjoyed it, a lot, and ive done the A class kids experience and the ML 4x4 experience, which were great fun.

Also entry into the actual Mercedes World is free and you can look all over the crs and sit in them, they have SLR 722'S, SLS's all sorts, and there is a Brawn GP F1 simulator and you can also pay to go into the Brooklands museum too, which is very good.

I did one at thruxston £550 all in think it was four laps in a porsche cayman, four laps in a F430 and four in a MurcIalego! Great day out how else could a 17 year old who had two months driving experience manage to drive all that most won't allow you to drive them under 21! Well organised and great fun, my old man is not interested in cars in the slightest and even he enjoyed the day! You can get in car vid and professional pics taken by them at a premium obviously!
I will keep an eye on this thread looking for another for my 21st! Would love to hear more about wet handling at mercedes benz! Thruxston have a sister company if you are up north think it may be croft circuit could be wrong though!!

Hi I did one in Oxford at Heyford Park, I drove 4 laps in each car;
Audi R8
Aston Martin DB9
Lamborghini Gallardo
Ferrari 360
and a passenger hot lap in an Elise. All for a small price of £309.
I've heard from a number of friends when doing track days at the likes of Goodwood, Silverstone etc, they are reluctant to let you drive the cars to their potential, however this was not the case at Heyford Park. Truly a great day out and highly recommended

I went to thruxton recentley and it was amazing! I drove a Porsche Cayman first, then a brand new Gallardo Spyder and then a formula rentault, I was getting 130mph+ on the track in the lambo and over 100moh in the cayman, the formula renault was just like a mad go kart, the instructors were very friendly and unlike other ones I've seen these ones kept encouraging me to go faster and faster!
Oh and Tiff Needell is at the track too
