On the way home from work today, I had the opportunity to stretch my legs out in my Ibiza tdi FR (130bhp 228 lbs/ft) on a decent B road. However, it simply does not do it for me, the high torque the engine produces is not a substitution for revs i.e. a decent petrol engine. A remap improves the situation but again the lack of revs is frustrating.

I know someone will mention at this point a BMW 335d which I’m sure is a great car but an autobox must be equally as frustrating when driving hard on an empty B road.

Maybe I shouldn’t be so tight and go and get a petrol… ……bloody commuting.

I don't mind the motorway hack in a diesel, and enjoy the torque. BUT, on a country lane - NO. It just does not compute for me.

I need the revs, the pops and bangs... wink
