No Claims Bonus 'Mirroring'
Discussion
So, after finishing a classic car policy (you cant accrue NCB on a classic policy)I have just been told that on my new policy that the company will 'mirror' the NCB on my other car's policy (I have three cars!) Basically, my 5 year NCB from my VX220 will also count towards my/my Mrs' new Mini Cooper S. Im not complaining, obviously, I just didnt realise insurance companies did this!
Be wary, I took a policy with Flux on the grounds they would mirror my 9yrs NCB onto a second policy as I have a second car on the road during summer. A few weeks back I bought a second car, rang them up and was shocked to be told it was in excess of £700 when the same details popped into a generic search site suggested I should be paying around £400. I questioned Flux who then told me they didn't actually "mirror" the NCB but instead gave an introductory discount on the second policy. An argument followed and I suggested they check the definition of the word "mirror" and also check the transcript from the conversation when I was sold the original policy and specifically asked about a second policy should the need arise. They quickly decided that "...in this case..." they could honour my NCB on both policies and dropped the price to £380.
