Bedford to Kings Langley avoiding M1 and M25 at 7.30am?

Hello, I have to be at Kings Langley by 8.30 am tomorrow and I will be starting my journey from Bedford. My colleagues have been telling me to avoid M1 and M25 at all cost for going towards London. I then have A5 going through Hemel Hemstead or A5 going through Luton, which one do you take? Cheers
