330d vs C350CDI

I've been looking at these and (don't shoot me...) have preferred the C Class Sport over the 3 Series. Looking at used examples, fairly new low mileage C350CDIs cost about the same as almost 2 year old much higher mileage 330d's. The C350CDI's seem to be better equipped and better looking (to me). Is the 330d really that much of a better drive and more reliable than the Merc? Or is the BMW brand so strong than people pay over the odds for the higher end 3's?

More reliable? I wasn't aware of any reliability issues with the 350 cdi (injector issues were with the 4 cyl diesels IIRC) or the new C-Class in general - all reports I've heard are that they're very well engineered indeed.

I didn't mean that the C Class wasn't reliable, at least not post-07. I just don't get why the BMW holds its value so much better in the first couple of years.
