I've just bought a car transporter trailer for my track car and I'd like to be able to make it a bit more difficult to steal if I have to leave it outside at any time. Looking on eBay there are several types of device including wheel clamps and things to lock over the hitch, has anyone any experience of these sorts of devicess and which is best?
I appreciate nothing will stop a determined thief but anything that will slow a scrote down or deter the opportunistic thief would be good.
Thanks in advance.

for mine i went with a wheel clamp, one that fits it properly or they just take the wheel off.

and a good hitch lock. should slow them down abit.

When using the trailer semi-frequently (summer months) I have two bike padalocks chaining it to a fence, a clamp on one wheel and a hitchlock. If parked for long periods (like over winter) I tend to strip it of anything useful, like the spare wheel and winch, and then I take one of the wheels off and put it on bricks. I also took my engraving tool from the dremmel and scratched some easily identifiable markings into it...

...even with all that I expect it will disappear some day....

Hitchlocks won't deter or even slow down a determined thief. All they do is lash a chain around the hitch and tow it away.

And judging by recent caravan thefts, even insurance approved wheelclamps can be removed in under a minute. Take the wheels off completely and they'll just bring their own.

If some wants it, there's not really a lot you can do to stop them.

This may have potential though
