Portsmouth to Chester this time on a Friday, well my old fella has had a stroke so no problem and I get the chance to stretch the Chims legs a bit, give us a wave if you see a black chim heading North A34, M40, M42, M6 then M56 to Chester!

Apologies for being crude, but reading that initially sounded like you'd had a wk and had therefore decided to take a rather lengthy drive!

More seriously, hope your dad is ok and good luck with the drive. OH's relatives live in Holywell so have done the trip a number of times. Some great stretches of the A34 if you time it right!

If in doubt...flat out!

All the best to your old man.

Good luck - I regularly do Portsmouth to Manchester but I find A34, M4 west, A419/417 to M5 junction 11a and then M5, M6, M56 to be far better avoiding the Oxford and M40/M42 bits. smile

When you get to the end of the M6 toll take junction 12 off the M6 then take very nice A41 road to Chester, (A5 for 2 miles) then A41 for 60 miles good road with few nice roundabouts along the way and only a few frustrating bits, on good run = same time as M6 or less if lucky. And add another get well soon to your dad.

Please dont do this today, as according to radio 2, there are problems on the 41 smile
