Supercars Wow Record Crowds At Wilton

Top-drawer exotics headline all-star cast at PH sponsored charity bash

An amazing array of metal (and carbon fibre) lined up on the grass outside Wilton House for the PistonHeads sponsored supercar charity day, thanks to a great bunch of owners who rocked up to support the cause.

Highlights of the 160-plus supercar display included an Aston One-77, two Bugatti Veyrons, three Koenigseggs, two McLaren 12Cs, a Pagani Zonda, two Ferrari Enzos and an F40, a Lamborghini Aventador, a pair of Moslers and, well you get the picture...

With a stunning collection of classics now also forming part of the show, an increasing number of trade stands, and the traditional British summer sunshine (eh?), it was a fantastic opportunity for the record number of visitors to get up close to their dream machines. This event just gets bigger, and more importantly better, every year.

We lost count of how many PHers turned up in our dedicated car parking area, but we could easily have spent a day wandering round that field on its own - so thanks to all for flying the flag.

The organisers are still totting up receipts for the day so we don't know how much was raised for good causes yet. However, we have heard that ticket sales were close to the 10,000 predicted in advance, so there'll be a decently-sized cheque in the post for the Stars Appeal soon.

Once again we doff the PH virtual top hat to Will Herbert (aka Lord Pembroke) and the organising team for conspiring to make this event happen, and also to the owners for turning up in support. Especially those early risers who left London at 6am for the blast in convoy down to Wiltshire, a truly surreal sort of supercar 'happening' that helps make Wilton one of the best days of our year.

(That, and the McLaren 12C we borrowed for this year's run, which made an unusual but surprisingly versatile camera car. We're already wondering how to top that in 2012...)

Lots more pictures here.

Another amazing event. Well worth flying back from Delhi to attend this year. For me, easily the best car of the show though had to be this Ferrari 250 SWB. Completely gorgeous in every way, worth £2.5m and just sitting in the middle of the field with no ropes around it. Bliss.

Jeepers, is that how much SWB's go for now? Is that an alloy body with good race history chassis?

Fantastic day out, A few holiday makers bound for the west country on the M3 /A 303 on Sunday got a real shock when they were "jumped" ( I use the word lightly) by the supercars cruise?

That was a beautiful car! Although when I was taking pictures of it, I did wince when a bloke sent his kid running over to it, and said child collided with the expensive chrome headlight surround!
Fantastic day to be had by all, I can't believe how much of it there was!I still didn't manage to get around it all, and I was there from 10.30-3.00pm!

Originally a kit car developed/supplied out of Slovakia using Honda I4 power, but only about 40 examples ever made it into the wild (with even less being built to completion). Now supplied as a turn-key using a Ford V6 for approx EUR 100K by this crew - http://www.k1roadster.nl/gb/home.php

it was a brilliant day and the Pistonheads parking was really handy and close to everything !

We went to a decent pup within walking distance and had a fab Sunday roast and a pint for £7.95 ! smile ( better than that van food imo )

I will definitely be going next year.. superb.

I was chuffed to bits to see my all time favourite car in the Dick Lovett area (a gorgeous 288 GTO) so imagine my delight to see another one rock up in the convoy!
A fantastic day out and, hopefully, a firm annual fixture; assuming, of course, that Jaykaybi and co continue to spend an inordinate amount of time organising this awesome get together.
Happily I got there fairly early so had a top parking spot and managed to get some breakfast before the queues got silly. Note to the guys for next year - invite a couple more messy-burger wagons. thumbup

Whilst taking a few snaps, i overheard the Fezza girl saying that the car was supposed to have been roped off, and for some reason, it wasn't. So she was roped in(sorry!!) to keep an eye on it.

This was my first spot, just as I parked up in the town, having missed the correct turn off for the parking area. My error was soon forgotten.. smile

My one criticism was that the supercar group that was all lumped very close to one other.
The One-77, Aventador, Koensigsegg, Carrera GT, McLaren, 2 Bugatti's and an Enzo were all in one small roped off area, which meant that it was difficult to view them properly due to the crowds. If they had been spread out a bit more, it would have made viewing far easier. A similar things happened at Goodwood, except they weren't even roped off there. redface
