Ford Ka 'least likely car to be stolen', while the Toyota Yaris is hot property
That is what burglar-turned-security expert Michael Fraser claims to be behind a survey that found all 9,070 Ford Ka3s remained safely on their owners’ driveways over the last five years.

They are not alone, as the Chevrolet Matiz, Suzuki Ignis, Hyundai I10 Comfort and Nissan Skyline were also considered safe bets, with theft rates of one in 5,000 or lower.

Odd. However, I left mine unlocked in a town car park once. Returned at 10pm, pressed remote and it armed the alarm. "Oopsie!", I thought. Then went to check that the engine was still there.

Maybe it is because it was an RB25 not an SR20 engine that it was still there... you know... a couple of Nissan SR20s would pull a premium one week before race wars.

biggrin

I left my R33 GTR standing on the drive, unlocked, with the keys in the ignition for four and a half months. It wasn't intentional. Safe to say I praising my luck and cursing my stupidity when I noticed upon getting home.

That took me a second to work out what it was, then I laughed pretty loud

I was gonna say, it was a great drive. We thought it best to park it back on the drive after the SXOC trackday. thumbup

I'd guess the 5,000 thing has given rise to someone being lazy with the stats and rounding to too few decimal places, throwing up an abnormally low figure.

I'd imagine there would be fewer than 5,000 Skylines on the books. Even less if its new cars only.

Did they ever fit an SR20 to a skyline? That's an Almera gti engine.

Everyone knows the RB26 is where it's at hehe

It's not as if the skyline was a popular car.

That's my point. The SR20 was fitted to the 200SX. And someone stole Johnny Tran's SR20s...

SR20 is a Pulsar GTIR 2.0 Turbo lump is it not? Either way, i saw a Micra with a SR20 in it and that was mad.

SR20DET is the turbo one.

Hmmm a Micra with Pulsar engine and 4wd could be 'interesting'...

SR20DE - Almera engine, amongst others
SR20DET - Turbo version fitted to GTIR and S14 200sx etc.

You'll probably find one fitted to a Skyline aftermarket somewhere. The R32 GTST had a crappy (nice sounding but utterly useless) 2 litre in it, though it was an RB20DET 6 pot it's only better than an SR20 in sound IME.

hehe The same car was 'commandeered' at an SXOC event, so this comes as little surprise biggrin
