Ditching runflats - BMW
Discussion
We have a 335i. It's got a slow puncture, nail in the edge.
Looks like a new tyre is going to be approx £300+.
Now, to me this does seem pricey! I was wondering if it's possible to ditch runflats and go for normal tyres.
I appreciate that all 4 would need to be done at once. Apart from this, is there anything else I need to be aware of? Are non runflats cheaper?
Cheers.

Let me think.....
OH YES!!!!!
I will tell my tale of woe later, needless to say I had no option to buy one when I got a puncture recently!
I'd probably replace both on the axle but on that kind of car, I doubt you'd even notice the difference if you have run-flats on the front but not on the back. Plenty of cars run different makes and models of tyres all 'round and don't go flying into hedges on every bend.
In my experience, ditching them run flats will make it a considerably better car, too. Hateful things.

Non-run-flats are much cheaper. I replaced all four non-run-flats on my 3 Series for a little more than my brother paid to replace one run-flat on his Z4. Make sure you tell your insurance company if switching to non-run-flats. Other threads on here have suggested that you need to do so.
We sell a lot of tyres to BMW owners wanting runflat replacements, they usually buy a can of tyreweld and a footpump / compressor with them.
A few people have just swapped 2 (usually the fronts for some reason) without dying, though I do suggest at least getting an XL version of the non-runflat tyre to give it a little sidewall / shoulder strength.
The non-runflat tyre of choice seems to be the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Always get good feedback. The Conti Sport Contact 5 is also gaining a little ground.
