2003 Renauly Megane Expression 1.4 - Any opinions?
Discussion
My cousin has just put a deposit down on one for her first car.
She got it for a decent price. Seems a lot of car compared to the corsa and other models in the 1.5k range..
Anyone here owned one or have any advice? Are the electrics as bad as they say?
I personally stay away from Renault as i had a few bad experiences with the Clio's in my youth...

When I was at training college a few years ago, all of the tutors ran Renaults as company cars.
The 2 tutors who trained our group both had Meganes of a similar vintage to the one you mention. It's going back a while now, but between them they had (IIRC) an engine ECU problem, something to do with the headlights, injector faults and an issue with the key-card-thingy.
A workshop colleague has had 2 previous-shape facelift Clios that have both had the same issue with melted rear lamp wiring. Our service reception lad had a pre-facelift MK2 Clio that had intermittent starting issues, he then sold it to our parts apprentice and it developed an immobilser fault while he had it.
That's about all I can say personally, but there was a thread here recently where many PHers were knocking Renaults of the last decade for electrical nightmares.

Fookin hell....
Really that bad LOL...
It is as if they were all built on bring-your-kids-to-work day, and everyone had a go at all the different jobs. Really that bad LOL...
Especially electrical architecture - that was a free-for-all with jelly and ice cream, balloons, crayons and face-painting.
Have you seen that specsavers advert with the kids running around and jumping on the sofa? Imagine that with stripey sweaters and push-bikes, and that's what the Renault factory is like.
