MOT info? Help please.
Discussion
Good morning folks. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me out with.
My other half bought a car on Monday (Punto - I had no say!!). The seller just had the MOT done on the car this week which was a bonus. He also gave me the previous MOT certificate which I never paid too much attention to. Looking at it today, it states "Expiry date December 23rd 2011 - the earliest you can present your vehicle for test is 24/11/2011."
How, then, has he managed to obtain an MOT on August 12th 2011?
Additionaly, the seller advised that the MOT this week was passed with no advisories. I have the MOT certificate here and it states "Advisory notice issued - Yes."
I realise this could have been something simple that the seller may have gotten fixed there and then, but for peace of mind, is there any way I can now find out what the advisory was? (No advisory notice was given to us at point of sale).
Thanks a lot

You can get an MOT any time.
The 'earliest' thing is to do with maintaining the existing expiry date - i.e. December.
The new one will expire next August.
ETA
I'd not worry about the advisory thing. I've had MOTs done with a shed load of advisories one year and none the next without any work having been done. Also if you have loads of advisories on a first test they aren't normally listed on the 'retest' certificate.

Can you not check the status of the MOT online now? you may need the MOT certificate number and reg number with you to checkMy other half bought a car on Monday (Punto - I had no say!!). Ive never used it so i do not know what its got online
Trickywoo, thanks for that. I see now that it is simply to preserve the anniversary date. Also, I'm going to have the car serviced soon and timing belt done again for peace of mind as there is no documentation of the belts having been done.
Stevieb, just checked that site, thank you. Car is defo MOT'd, just cant get to see what the advisories are. Although I have lots of experience of "advisories" where I am sure it has just been a way to make a quick buck from adjusting head light aim etc. I also had a garage manage to bring down my cars emmissions to a passable level by leaving the car sat in a corner of a workshop for a few days then start it again! Ha
Cheers
