What does Add-Blue do?
Discussion
You may of noticed it but most cars are resale grey/silver this is due to modern paint processes.
Lorry companies don't like resale grey so they have fitted this new system which slowly covers the lorry in a fine layer of blue hence the tank which needs add blue
If you see a yellow lorry it uses add yellow but because the system was first used on blue lorry the name add blue has stuck a bit like we call all vacuum cleaners hoovers.

Don't Peugeot use this to periodically clear/clean the DPF?
Nope, that's something a little bit different - The additive used in PSA engines, is used to lower the light off temperature of the carbon in the DPF - This is injected into the tank after filling with fuel.Adblue (Urea) is used in SNCR and SCR reactions to reduce the NOx pollutants in exhaust gases from combustion, for example, from power plants and diesel engines. The BlueTec system, for example, injects water-based urea solution into the exhaust system. The ammonia produced by decomposition of the urea reacts with the nitrogen oxide emissions and is converted into nitrogen and water within the catalytic converter.
And yes, Urea is basically dilute pee pee
It is special euro pig piss. it is squirted into the exhaust of a diesel to taint the air with eau du piss and save the planet.
As a by product it also reduces the amount of profit turned by the truck operators because they have to buy this price inflated dyed piss, this of course is taxed, meaning the government get a bit more of our money on top of the price we pay for the piss.
It's all to do with the EU/Govt. obsession with controlling every single tiny facet of the haulage industry despite the glaring fact that the interfering crats don't understand that modern life is only possible because of the truck and if they interfere much more we may well tell them to f

"Add ress unknown, please come to the depot between 10:12 and 10:14 on a Thursday morning with nineteen different forms of identification so that you can pick up your parcel that we've been paid to deliver but couldn't be arsed to hang around at your door for longer than a millisecond after knocking (ignoring the doorbell of course) because the driver wanted a bacon butty"
This, plus six (yes, SIX) large signs in the always empty car park stating "CUSTOMERS MUST NOT PARK IN THESE SPACES. FOR ROYAL MAIL MANAGEMENT ONLY". Which leaves the double yellow lines on the NSL road outside as the only place to park.We have a gravel drive and a post box attached to our gate. The postman doesn't even get out of his van to deliver our post (on the two days a week he can be arsed turning into our drive), he just winds the window down and drops it out. He likes doing handbrake turns on the drive too, which rips up the gravel nicely.
Great company, great people.

Besides the fact that does a job and it's about 15 quid for a tank that lasts up to 5k iirc As a by product it also reduces the amount of profit turned by the truck operators because they have to buy this price inflated dyed piss, this of course is taxed, meaning the government get a bit more of our money on top of the price we pay for the piss.

It is anywhere between 30p and 90p a litre depending on how much you buy, so if you want a good price you have to pay a lot for a lot of blue piss. AdBlue supplier website said:
Not sure of the amount of AdBlue you need to buy?
Almost all operators report demand of approximately 5% in relation to fuel consumption.
To consider two common applications, A 7.5 tonne vehicle with an average fuel consumption of 15 mpg and an annual mileage of 50,000 would use approximately 760 litres of AdBlue per year. An articulated 40ft lorry with an average fuel consumption of 7.5 mpg and an annual mileage of 100,000 would use approximately 3042 litres of AdBlue per year

Bear in mind that most hauliers run more than one truck, we run 6, a mixed fleet ranging from a 7.5 ton iveco to an Artic. We are a small fleet, I know one haulier whose AdBlue bill is up in the tens of thousands a year, multipy that up to a nationwide scale and you see its a nice earner for the sellers and the Govt.
The difference in emissions is not a point I am prepared to argue here, the whole subject starts to get to close to "global warming" and "climate change" lies for me.
