Anybody now if there is a time limit from the day you pass either a mobile or fixed camera to when you must receive a penalty notice - for some reason I thought it was two weeks?

Assuming you're the registered keeper and the address information is correct, 14 days. If it's registered to another or a company/lease car, then it can take longer.

Out of interest does that mean after two weeks you can't be done for it? confused

Also is it the same for average speed cameras? confused

The only requirement is that they send a Notice of Intended Prosecution to the REGISTERED KEEPER of the vehicle within 14 days but if different from the driver, the time thereafter to locate the driver is irrelevant provided the ultimate summons is issued within 6 months. If someone deliberately registered their car at the wrong address, the NIP would still be effective as long as that was the address on the logbook.

Most Forces are now offering speed awareness courses for first offenders or those with no other speeding within 3 (or 5 possibly)years. You pay about £85 and go and you don't get the points and it doesn't affect your insurance.
