I was out in the sticks today somewhere between Hereford and Worcester and needed fuel in the van when I found this little garage. The first thing I saw was this....

Then after filling I went inside to pay, and instead of rows and rows of Redbull(ammo)and doughnuts for £2.99 each, there was oil, grease, tyres for sale. There were fan belts and spark plugs, stuff you might actually need for your car....
Then right by the door was this, in a glass case...

A cut away Morris engine, Morris 1000 I guess?
I tried to buy it, but it was not for sale. I did get a number though so I will keep trying biggrin

Clearly not from a Minor. I'd say that looks like an early Mini engine with the 'magic wand' gearbox; these came with a really long gearstick that sprouted from the very bottom of the bulkhead, and that 'trumpet' bit sticking out towards the window was where it connected.

I think those engines were green from the factory, so I'm going to guess that it was something they had an apprentice produce and he chose the colour. If that apprentice now owns the garage, that would explain why it's not for sale. On the other hand, if I'm wrong and it's a factory display engine then that's going to be ££££. (Doesn't look very factory to me though - I suspect they'd have chopped more away so you could see more of the insides).

Looks like a cutaway training engine that started life as a Morris mini. gold seal replacement engine

A few more pics, I like the one with the sign on, it sort of implies they've only just found out how it works hehe
