Just had my car scratched in the road (about 2 inches long) and this is having just got it back from respraying over vandalism. I'm tempted to touch it up myself (small area by wheel arch at rear) rather than fork out another £200/£250. It is metallic silver though! Anyone tried such a small area and is it likely I'll be able to get a good result?

Update 18th Oct. Just had it touched up by the garage that did the bonnet. The guy did it for £140 which was money better spent than trying to do it myself! Sunbury Coachworks who I highly recommend again

If it's rattle can it will look terrible frown

Silver is probably the worst colour to match as well. The problem is even trying to feather in the paint you will see the difference in shade (depends on age of car as well) This is why the whole panel should be painted (part of the adjoining panels would be painted as well to help the colour match)

Sorry to hear of the damage though mate, it's a horrible feeling when it happens frown
