ok, to try to add a little structure to this then so that we as the PH community can complete: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Can each of you offer up 20 nominations over the course of the next week. So closing date is Midnight 26th Aug 2011.

Your nominations must include a reason on why it's being nominated or it'll be discounted.

Once all the nominations are in I'll compile them into a single list based on number of votes.

Please try to list only 20, but as it's a vote it doesn't matter what order you put them in biggrin

REMEMBER though, the ethos of this is:

Aim of the Top 100 said:
"Greatness, for the reason of this list, is defined by a vehicle's direct, significant contribution to British automotive culture, taking into account other World markets"
This is about automotive culture, not handling and horse power hehe

In no order, these 20.

Classic Mini - Most iconic British car of all time
Lexus LFA - It's made by Lexus! And it's stunning all round
Veyron - Beast
All 911s - A legend + my favourite 'super car'
Twin Turbo Supra (Latest model Mk4?) - First 1000BHP tuner car that could handle the power
Skyline R34 - A beautiful Ring' car with mega power
MK1 Golf GTI - THE classic hot hatch
Mazda RX7 - One of my favourite RWD tuner cars
Ferrari F40 - Probably the best driver car of all time... Never driven one though.
RB5 Impreza - A rally legend for the road
Renault 5 Turbo - For me it's the best Renault hatch. Light as a sausage skin as well
Chevrolet Bel Air (50s) - A very beautiful car that springs to mind when I think of the USA
Original Mustang - Best muscle car of all time?
LandRover Defender - Probably still the best off roader. Value anyway because the Bowler is £££
McLaren F1 - Not a fan personally but can't hide its greatness
Aston Martin DB5 - This car just defines the word 'class'
Jag E-Type - Best looking car of all time. - Fact.
Lambo Murcielago - My favourite Lambo, and it sounds so so good.
Ford Thunderbird - Best looking car to come from the USA
Ariel Atom/V8 model - And pound for pound the best track car money can by. IMO of course.

I'd really struggle to put them in order.

Edit to put the reasons next to each car.

Don't worry about order, each nomination will attain a vote. Highest number of votes will place 1st and so on. smile

PS - don't forget to add a reason/justification on why you think it deserves a place.

1. Jaguar XJ220- Started as an unofficial project and became the fastest car in the world. Made a bold statement about British Supercars.
2. McLaren F1- Unusual seating plan, amazingly quick, almost unbeatable in it's racing life.
3. Aston Martin One-77- Just beautiful. And fast.
4. Koenigsegg CCX-R- Stunning. Quick. Convertible.
5. Land Rover Defender- STILL one of the best off-roaders of all time, and i think it's safe to say most of us want one.
6. Nissan GTR- High performance for a relatively low price. And can be tuned to be quick than pretty much anything else.
7. Nissan Skyline R34 GTR- A cult car with serious performance and looks that still don't look outdated.
8. Toyota Supra - Good performance with the potential for great performance.
9. Caparo T1 - Innovative and a different choice than the usual supercar line-up.
10. Lotus Evora - Great handling, and i can fit in it.
11. Lamborghini Murcielago SV - Look at it! Unbelievably quick and looks evil
12. Mercedes/Mclaren SLR 722 - Britain and Germany working together with a great result.
13. Lexus LFA - Geek luxury and a great engine.
14. Ford Focus ST - Great performance and it's orange.
15. Porsche Carrera GT - Looks great, goes well, and was the first Porsche i actually liked the looks of.
16. Lambo Gallardo Performante - beautiful, goes well, handles well.
17. Lambo Aventador - Looks like a stealth fighter and is breaking records all over the place.
18. Subaru Impreza '08 - I like the looks, 4wd, and the usual Subaru performance.
19. Honda NSX - Jordana Brewster looked great in it hehe
20. Aston Martin V12 Vantage - BEAUTIFUL! And the V12 only adds to the experience.

I've put these in the order they popped in to my head.

The reasons are flimsy at best and are pretty much all the same; Looks good, goes well.

In addition ot the ones I added to the original list

Lotus Elise - a game changer in many ways, most importantly the introduction of a bonded aluminium tub structure. Purest steering response in the universe. Spawned a generation of track day specials.

New Mini (MkI) - a small car that you bought for what it was, not because you needed a small car. Classless, desirable and fun in every iteration.

Renault Clio Trophy - the ultimate expression of Renaultsport Clios. Does everything for which we know and love hot hatches to perfection while giving supercars a d*mn hard time on the road. If it's not cornering on 3 wheels, you're not trying hard enough.

Of course. Because to some people an F50, Enzo, 250GTO would rank higher.
