Not sure what the law is, but if safe to do so, I will drive over them. It always makes me laugh when you see someone driving perfectly around them when there really is no need.

I always drive over them! The one time I didnt, the ahole behind me did, and then clipped my back end, so yup, always over!

I believe the HC states that unless the size of your vehicle prohibits you from driving around them that you must do so. Either way, I'm straight over.

Always around. They're not just designed for priority but also to slow the traffic to allow for a correct priority check. We have one at the end of our street and the amount of times people drive through it at - or over - the speed limit is shocking. It's really not hard to drive around them properly and I believe most modern cars have steering wheels fitted to them to allow such a manoeuvre.

For reference:
HC188: Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so. Remember, there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to signal. Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts. Beware of others doing this.

Around normally. At night take the fastest line around the paint, just clipping over the edge of the paint like F1 cars clipping over the curbs.

Over

Even some of the slightly raised/offset ones - if there's nothing else near: over.

Depends on the situation with other traffic at the junction, but I generally tend to go partly over them.

I remember when I bought my new Discovery and I had two 12 years olds in the far back seats and I seen one of these white painted roundabouts, but I just drove over it while driving a bit to fast.
The problem was is that the painted roundabout was a huge hump and I bloody well took off big time and landed nose down with a hell of a bang, one of the dudes banged his head and the other bit his lip and it was bleeding and my wife was so annoyed with me you wouldn't believe.

Lesson learnt......

Make sure no one else is in the car with you when you do it biggrin

Same near my leisure centre, it's almost impossible to go round it unless you are walking. Everyone ignores it and treats it like a junction which is what it was before and there wasn't any problems. Not like it's a busy main road or anything either so god knows why they put it in.

Over. Although if on my motorbike I'd go round if it was wet. I have a phobia about road markings.

I'd often wondered who all these terrible drivers were. At least this thread has answered that question. smile

Always around them.

I love them, they are great for practising my chicane taking technique.

There was a thread on one of the NI car forums about a person getting pulled for this. So I go around now!

Always around, not just because it's a mini chicane opportunity (although taking off sounds fun!) but also since my police officer mate told me that technically you can get 3 points and £60 fine for failing to do so...
I admit he may have been winding me up, any traffic qualified officers on here to back me up??

There are a few round here where the council just painted a circle in the middle of a T junction so it is pretty much impossible to go round it as the gap between the circle and the curb is narrower than a car.
