Litter problem on motorways? Really?
Discussion
Good to see the warning gantries on the M6 motorway being put to good use, stating 'BIN YOUR LITTER LIKE OTHERS DO'
W.T.F ?
I was surprised I saw the signs, there was that much litter and rubbish strewn all across the carriageway, I had to deploy the wipers to see them!
Good job there were absolutely no MLM's in sight for the 10 miles I travelled and everybody was pulling in to the left side when not overtaking. Absolutely no need whatsoever for motorway signs to educate drivers in this country. Nope, no need at all.
Hoping they change the signs soon to 'DON'T PICK YOUR NOSE' or similar, just so we know what's good practice on our highways.

Fact is that the central reservations of some of the businer motorways are strewn with fag packets, cans and plastic bottles. Apparently truck drivers piss in them and chuck them out of the window. Lovely eh!
Yeah, I know.. I just think the signs should be for driving issues instead of a problem which is a general issue in the UK, on and off the road.RichB said:

Then some poor bugger has to take his life in our hands to venture out there and clean it upI dont see the issue really. Litter is a huge bugbear of mine. How hard is it to keep your rubbish in the car till you get home then take it and put it in the bin.
I live in a terrace house. A few doors down there's some polish or Lithuanians living in one of the houses. They have friends come by sometimes in a green thing honda accord iirc who park out in the street then they all stand sit around the doorstep and talk and drink etc.
No biggie there except a week or two back i found that their friends in the accord had emptied their ashtray into the street instead of walk the 5-10 metres into the house and put it in a bin.
f
ks me right off. How lazy and dirty can you be.
The street and road are not a bin. So a matrix sign reminding people of this is acceptable in my book. Rather that than "spray slow". I mean f
k its not exactly possible to not notice spray when driving.
In fact in some cases the spray is so bad you can barely see the matrix sign warning you of it.
Or of course the speed kills ones etc.

I've seen yellow signs on motorways recently telling me how many bags of rubbish the poor buggers have collected - and ones saying how picking up "YOUR" rubbish risks their lives.Makes sense I suppose.

You either don't see any rubbish because your eyes aren't open or what is most likely is that some poor buggers (as Mikey alludes to) every so often clear up all the junk that gets thrown from vehicles.
I don't doubt there's rubbish. Everywhere. What I don't understand is the lack of promotion for better driving. Priorities seem a bit f
ked up to me.Having been sat in a jam on the M6 and seen the family in front throw out an entire meals worth of McDonalds packaging, its ok. However in Scotland they have messages along the lines of keep left, allow faster traffic to pass, frustration causes accidents etc. which would also be very beneficial - better than some of the messages given.
