Looking at a car as a winter project and I have used the DVLA's MOT History check function. All OK

Is it possible for a dodgy garage to revisit the MOT system and adjust the milage for the MOT's for the last 5 years?

Thanks in advance

Edit - sorry about the typo in the thread title - coffee not kicked in yet

The odometer reading on the documents can only be changed within 7 calendar days of test completion and the person issuing the replacement documents must see the odometer reading at the time.

The only other way of altering it after 7 days is to do another MOT test, which will still leave the previous test on the computerised record.

No it can only be changed on the day of the test. Which means if an honest typo is not spotted that day it can't be changed.

ETA is it really 7 days??? I've been mislead!!!

I had one where the tester accidentally entered the "mileage" in "kilometers" so the figure was way higher than it should have been. Fortunately I checked the new certificate before leaving the testing station and they sorted it straight away, issuing another corrected certificate.

As above. Test Centres cannot adjust mileage.

Vosa centres can adjust mileage, and the computer. I had to do it recently. The tester had made a typo. So I sent the test cert back with the invoice (had the right mileage on) and a photo of the clocks as proof and they sorted it out. Free too smile
