Advice needed about Reliability.
Discussion
Reliability is meant to be ok on Protons but expect it to be sat in the garage for long periods when it needs a spare part. My local independent had one as their 'courtesy' car and it was a wreck. They bought it from some customer after it failed it's MOT and was going to take over a month to source all the various parts needed. Alternatively they could get the parts sooner (but not for a few days at best) via the Proton dealers but they were very expensive and totalled more than the value of the car.
I'd probably buy something else unless it's so cheap that you can dispose of it.

Looking for a cheap run-about and have found a 1999 proton compact 1.5 sprint. how reliable are Proton cars? they don't seem very popular so can imagine parts being expensive. overall does anyone know what there reputation is like?
Many thanks chaps.
I'd 2nd the parts thing. Also some parts I'm lead to believe are horrendously expensive compared to buying a similar item for something more mainstream like a Ford or Vauxhall. Many thanks chaps.
