Hello Everyone,

For one reason or another (long story!) my rear wheels are a slightly lighter shade of silver compared to the front. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how I could dull the rears down a bit without recoating? Other than not washing them as often!

Cheers

Could you have lighter wheels on one side or are they different sizes?

Are they different sizes front to rear?

Repainting is the only option that I can see.

Or just, let brake dust build up, until the paint can no longer be seen, front or back.....

At a guess the difference could be due to brake dust bonded to the surface of the front wheels - I'm guessing it has drum brakes at the rear (can't see?). It won't simply wash off, it's chemically-bonded on there. You could try a refurb or (cheaper) claying the front wheels (ask any detailer about this) to make the match the rear, or just simply swap the fronts to the backs for a while and they'll soon suffer the same.

Yes they are wider at the rear, nice idea though!

They aren't painted the same colour from the start, I had the front ones refurb'd and had to buy new rear ones which have come in this colour...

They are both squeaky clean, but I guess I'll just have to be clever with brake dust on the rear wheels. It is very subtle in person, or looks like I just haven't washed the front wheels in a fortnight or so...

Swap the front ones for the back, that way the back ones won't be as shiny?

Just get them all refurbed in matching paintwork, it's the only solution that I can see working properly!
