Another what car thread
Discussion
Hi i do about 320miles to 380 a week so on average between 15000 and 18000 a year somewhere between them figures. Been looking at getting myself another car not sure if i should go the route of a petrol or diesel? I spend about £200 a month in petrol at the minute with my honda civic coupe which does me good at about 40mpg. But its hit 102000 now and is due to have the cambelt done soon. Anybody help me out? I was thinking of a audi a3 2.0 fsi they have abit more power than the honda and can still do around 40mpg combined

Well a couple questions real quick. First have you had the honda since new? What shape of repair is it in? I doubt that you will see 40 MPG in the audi. Personally i would just hang on to the honda it's meeting your needs now it sounds like and for very little out lay you have a reliable car. I also think that your going to have to factor in running costs and I can assure you the audi will be much higher. Keep the honda for a little while longer and get something you really like
No i bought the honda with 59000 miles on the clock. Its fine at the minute to be honest, ive had it 3 years now, just needs the oil and oil filter replacing and tyres apart from that its been ok, the thrust bearings on the gearbox did go which cost me £700 but this was a known problem with these gearboxes and it was orginally a town car from chiswick honda in londnn so i expect it had been abused abit coming from there.
Yes its hard to get a car that can achieve 40mpg and still be good at overtaking and economical. Only other car i could think of would be a honda civic sport 1.6

CB (great duo by the way) I would really either keep the Honda or upgrade to a different honda with a VTEC. You get a lot relaibilty, low maint, performance a diesel is going to feel super slugglish. I f you want more performance go up the Honda food chain i think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If nothing else when you're bored at least test drive something a little more potent. I think frankly the car has taken it's depreciation hit so it's not going like you are going to loose money by keeping it. It has a lot of life in it. The reason these thing sell and retain value like crazy in the US is very, very few cars offer the combination they offer at the price point they offer it at. Maybe even consider a newer civic if the budget's tight.
