Ka's are terrible for rusting to be fair.
My ZT (2004) has a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of rust on the front wing - I've removed the mudflaps (they sit wayyy to low and catch on most speedbumps) and they trap dirt (to scratch away the paint) and moisture (to make the exposed metal rust).
Many cars are similar.
EDIT - ZT's / 75's are very very good cars for not rusting fwiw.

If they are very very good at not rusting then why does yours have rust?My ZT (2004) has a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of rust on the front wing - I've removed the mudflaps (they sit wayyy to low and catch on most speedbumps) and they trap dirt (to scratch away the paint) and moisture (to make the exposed metal rust).

Ford Ka's are dreadful for the propensity to rust.
My kids have had three from new in the last five years EVERY one rusted under warranty in year ONE. And continued to rust.
By year three all were showing serious body corrosion. They all buy VW or Toyota now. Never seen a rusty one of these.
Being ancient I had a new SD1 V8 in 1986.
The boot floor and outriders underneath were completely bare metal not even primed at all just bare metal. Dreadful quality but a great family car. Towed everything in site and cost a fortune in parts but they all did then.
I also had at times a new Stag and two new TR7's. All had bare metal in parts it was no surprise to me BL went under this level of non existent quality cannot be successful.
But again great cars I thoroughly enjoyed all three.
Modern cars are vastly better controlled in quality and consistency.
Even my Freelander has good paintwork.
And that car is NOT the best in quality control.

Traded my old 52 plate MX5 almost exactly a year ago because I couldn't be bothered getting the rusty sills and arches sorted. It was also mentioned on the MOT about the rust underneath so I bought a 2007 mk3 instead.
I've seen 54 plate mx5's with bad rust, the mk2 mx5's are quite bad for it.

Very good at rusting = virtually no examples(even 12 year old cars) of cars with serious rust problems (except those with poor repairs).I mentioned the small rust point because it can happen to any car - if you look behind the mudflaps on a lot of cars you will find such horrors.
