Need some new wipers for the mondeo, do i stick with the old fashioned metal frame style, or these new ones which are basically an all in one floppy piece of rubber? These:

Bearing in mind, whatever type i choose, it will be the rock bottom priced, made in a shed south of Albania, ebay purchase.

The cheap own brand ones from wiperblades.co.uk are very good for the money, something like £6 each.

got mine of flee bay !

£11 a pair delivered and have been fine.

think the company was called ace parts.
Ace Parts are great (no affiliation)- they are on PH. Excellent customer service from them (Alan I think it was).
This style of wiper is very good, but I found that they are not so great if your windscreen is very curved- there's not enough spring in the blade to exert enough pressure on the tip to keep in contact with the screen.

I have found them to be more quiet and better at their job than the old steel frame ones when I put them on my mk.1 mr2.

I have a pair on the TT at the moment, bloody good for what's supposed to be cheap and nasty. No worse than the standard ones to be honest.

my only observation (my S60 has them as OEM) is that they are less likely to lift at speed.

I find them much better than the ones with a steel frame, especially the Bosch ones. Try eurocarparts.com for a good price.

My two observations of them on the Z4:
  • the passenger-side one doesn't curve enough to cover the whole screen for the first 6" of its sweep
  • they don't like high speeds, and creep up the screen by about 1" at above motorway speeds (i.e. autobahns, tracks, 'Ring, etc.)

I've found them very good. The old style frame ones 'push' the wiper blades against the screen at a few points on the screen and once they perish they don't work as well in between these points. These new ones are springs steel so there is even force all the way along the blade. Although, as mentioned above, they may not work well on screens that are really curved

Bought a Bosch retrofit set for the E36 and found them to be a decent upgrade, quiet and work well. No complaints.

Another vote for Ace parts - they work really well even on a very curved screen and there's no metal bits to go rusty..

For something that works better! Its how progress works as a rule. eg Ford Model T worked fine, Ford Mondeo works better. Stephensons Rocket worked fine, Japanese Bullet Train works better

I use them in summer, but have to swap to traditional ones in winter as I find they stiffen up too much in the (Scottish dawn winter) cold to sweep enough of the windscreen.
