Upsetting Petrol Station incident yesterday....

So there I was, pulling into the Tesco petrol station in the MR2 and I'm greeted by a lovely red Ferrari California: top down, private plate, the works.
Now, it's probably just me, but I was horrified when I realised the owner was putting regular Tesco unleaded in her
Perhaps I just love Ferraris TOO much

As mentioned above, you'd hope your hundred-and-whatever thousand pounds buys you an ECU with knock sensing capability that can advance or retard the ignition for different grades of fuel. Otherwise how would it cope with the Crimean petrol when all those Russian oligarchs head off on trips to their summer dachas?

Granted, it's probably worth putting in some premium petrol every couple of fills to get the extra detergents etc. but I wouldn't say it was vital.
I believe all cars sold in the EU have to work with the full range of available fuels - as there are plenty of places where you don't get a fat lot of choice as to what's available???
It's not hard to build some knock-sensing capability into the system and for most people, they'll not even notice the slight reduction in urge...
I'd be more upset that he's using supermarket petrol tbh - we've had 2 incidents of local supermarkets admitting that they sold contaminated fuel recently - that's 2 more than I'd accept before using them!!
