Hello you lot.
So I find myself with a week off and i'm thinking of going up to wales for a driving trip, from my understanding there are some great driving to be had in that part of the country, so I am asking the PH collective for inspiration on where the best road are to drive, and where the best places to stay are and take in the sites. Any tips or advise are all welcome.

I think the Tregaron mountain road from Llanwrtyd Wells to Tregaron takes some beating magnificent scenery really winding forest road up hills down valleys. Views generally glorious AND you can see far enough ahead or across the valley to make serious cornering a lot safer.

Yes it is perfectly possible. We drove it last year (albeit in the Llanwrtyd Wells to Tregaron direction!) but there is no reason why, as far as I am aware, you cannot do it in the other direction. Just apply common sense when driving. The roads are in excellent condition and visibility good, but they are too narrow and twisting for you to put your foot down! The views are lovely though.
Are you planning to stay in Llanwrtyd Wells? We stayed in the New Hall Guest House last year and it was lovely. Lanwrtyd Wells is a great little community - good atmosphere, especially in the Neuadd Arms hotel in the evenings!'
Depending on your nerve and reasonable safety this is probably the most beautiful welsh road I know

Head to Holyhead, get the ferry to ireland, head south.
Or perhaps try the A55 at 5 am from Bang-ah to Llanfairfackan (spelling?)
Once had an indicated 136 leptons squared from a mk2 cavalier 1.8i auto with wildly inaccurate speedo.
Try the roads east, north and west of Beaumaris for a laugh. Very windy and unlikely to achieve the speed limit.
