Can anyone recommend someone in the North West who is familiar with Ford V8s. My Mantis has the 96-98 Quad Cam from the Mustang Cobra, but is gulping along at 12 mpg which just isn't funny anymore... eek I know there's lot of good general engine folks around but I can't really afford £50 an hour while they learn about mine (sorry to sound tight, but...).

Any suggestions very welcome. TIA.

Will give him a try, thank you smile (some serious engines on his site, albeit mostly Chevvys!).

Does anyone else have any suggestions please? (One possible source of experience with this engine would be anyone in the NW who looked after Mantis Challenge cars about 10 years ago)

id try the yank section on here , or try a few mustang forums and see if you can diagnose it yourself

it should have the same plug in code reader most other cars use , so possibly see if a local garage will read it , or buy one off ebay and see what you can up with some forum helpers

You'd think so wouldn't you! rolleyes However Marcos removed the standard OBDII connector & fitted a bespoke one in a not-so-subtle move to get them to do all the servicing laugh A fine plan while they existed but...

I will indeed try having another go with some of the Mustang Forums, thanks.

If Marcos only changed the connector, is it not possible to get the required pin outs and rewire a standard OBD plug into the car ?

What does the connector look like?

Don't know - it's buried behind the dash. The Mantis is my daily drive so taking the dash off in my inevitably amateur fashion is not an option if I render the car immobile eek
