Wanting a different car immediately?
Discussion
I've owned my basically immaculate bianca white S1 Peugeot 106 1.3 Rallye, for about 2 months. The car is in amazing condition and I have already spent about £1000 on the car.
I just can't help having my doubts about it. It's noisy, uncomfortable and has no equipment what so ever. It also creeks and rattles and generally feels very old to drive, even though the car is from 1996 and has power steering.
Other than that, because of the cars condition, I worry about it all the time, taking extreme notice where I park it, and spending an enormous amount of time keeping it clean and shiny inside and out.
It's good fun to drive, I just feel, living in the city, that I rarely do get the opportunity to take advantage of the fun capabilities of the car. The ride is very firm, which isn't optimal with the current condition of the roads in Copenhagen, and the car sits at 4800 RPM on the motorway.
I often visit my parents, about 18 motorway miles away, work is 5 motorway miles away.
I just feel that this would be a terrific car, if lived on a winding B road, not so much in the city where I mostly do city driving or motorway miles.
I've been looking at stuff like E36 323i's and Citroen Xsara VTS's.
Am I mad?

I bought a Panda 100HP after loving it on 2 test drives. Sold it after a month because a 50 mile a day commute just wasn't fun with the firm suspension.
Sometimes on paper a car is perfect, and even after a test drive or two it can still seem right - but everyday it still might not work.
The decider, for me anyway, was that I could sell it after 5 weeks losing no money (in fact I made a profit). If you can flog the 106 without losing any cash then where's the harm?

Like me, you have bought the wrong car. The only thing stopping me changing mine tomorrow is not wanting to spend the money when I have no justifiable reason to do so. I keep hoping my car will develop terminal trouble or get smashed or something that will make it easier to get rid.
Just yesterday was bin collection day and I was wondering what were the chances of the bin wagon's brakes failing, then rolling down the hill and writing off my car.

Sounds like the car is perfect for you but the roads are letting you down! Maybe find your nearest B-roads the next dry weekend?
Failing that a comfier hot hatch from the class up might be the ticket (as you suggested, Xsara VTS etc
)
I have about 15 miles from the nearest B roads, where the car performs great.

)I also brought the car to a track day this Wednesday, which was great, the car performed beyond expectation and everyone marveled at the cars amazing condition, etc. etc.
I really like the car, the engine is terrific fun and it looks very smart, but I just don't look forward to a journey, like I used to with other cars (Alfa 155 2.0 Sport, Peugeot 405 2.0 Mi16). Actually, I feel the exact opposite way, that the car is tiring to drive and getting around is a hassle.
I think it's a rite of passage for every petrolhead to develop another itch after they've picked up a new car (to satisfy the previous itch). For some people they can do without the want for many years, but for others they'll enjoy their first drive and immediately get home and hit the classifieds to find their next motoring venture.
FWIW, I've had my M3 for a few weeks now - I love it to pieces, it's all things to all purposes for me. However, that hasn't stopped a V8 itch from appearing, although for one of the first times I'm looking at cheaper V8s (Rangies etc) that I can feasibly run alongside my M3 as I'm not planning on getting shot of it any time soon.

Oh, I've got the itch now... I know I should be saving for a house deposit, but I keep looking at BMW Z4 coupés... knowing I could have one instead... (In the real world, I've got one saving account for the sportscar and another for the house- that way, I can keep disciplined.)
