Cars that have used be all the rage but have lost their edge
Discussion
I remember in the 80's the Karmann Beetle was really good news.
They were very expensive and a sort of Chelsea set car. Now they seem to have fallen out of bed. They just don't have that image any more.
Likewise the Alfa Spider S2. They too were very expensive and were rock solid on second hand values. I recall Giulia Bertone Coupe GTV's being broken up for their engines to go into tired Spiders.
The irony is the Bertones are now big money. The cream model being the 1750GTV Mk1. A good one of them starts at £12k whereas a Spider (non boat tail) would make perhaps 6k.
On the other side of the coin we have fast Mk1/2 Escorts, Fiat 500 and the TR5 which have got bananas. I'm into bubble/microcars and some of them have gone balistic.
Aren't the punters fickle?!
