I've been toying with the idea of a remap for the Saab. It's cheaper than the psychiatric help.
Maptun want to charge me about #550- I've heard good things about them.
BSR want to charge about #600- I've also heard good things about them.
A firm called Venom want to charge about #159- I know nothing about them.
My questions are these:
Who are Venom?Does anyone have any experience of them? Are they any good? Why is their remap a quarter of the price of the others?
I'm likely to go for Maptun but would be interested to hear any opinions (except 'buy an MX5')

One word of advice, you get what you pay for with remaps. Big name remaps cost more, but have had much more spent on their development and much more time testing the bugs - other owners have already taken the hit and reported their faults, meaning the remap should be much more reliable than a cheap one.
Anyone with a laptop and the right software can make their own map, it doesn't mean they will be good at it though!

Personally I'd check out the relevant car specific forum.
I wouldn't touch an Ebay operation but I would consider smaller garages etc.
I recently got my van remapped and went with a guy recommended on the T4 forum who'd been around for a few years and also gave before and after dyno printouts - so you can see what your getting.
£175 and 3,000 miles later I'm still very happy.
