Caught a glimpse of a car today and haven't got a clue what it was... can the collective knowledge of PH help?

It was quite square, estate shaped thing and seemed to have quite a high ride height. I didn't spot whether it was 3 or 5 door. The headlights were rectanglar I think, and had quite a big chrome surround.

My initial impression was that it looked eastern european, but thinking a bit more I could see it being some obscure jap thing (modern car, retro styling like a Nissan Figaro).

Any ideas?

Nope, bigger that that. Perhaps about the size of a Focus estate.

Nope, not a Dacia or an FJ. Dacia looks far too modern - this had very plain surfaces. The Toyota is too big (height especially).

Doing a bit of googling I've found the Wartburg 353 - I'm not convinced that this is what it was, but it certainly has the eastern european look and headlights surrounded by chrome. The car I saw just seemed to have cleaner lines and be a bit too polished to be cold war era eastern european.
