Dads asked me to look into them...

He's got about 10-15K and has discounted to mitsi L200 as he's heard horror stories..

What's the most reliable one you can get? He might prefer auto box but not the be all and end all, and mustnt be acient... Say no more than 7years old.

Please give any info on things to look out for and potential problems.. Thank you.

D40 navara, I've run both the king & double cab around a 2007.... I found them both bulletproof...

Cheers for the reply but please excuse my pick-up ignorance.. Is the D40 the quite edgy one? Rather than the softer looking older one?

My dads ran a D40 from 15k to 100k as of yesterday. It's never left him stranded, although has limped home once or twice. Only other issue was with the Sat Nav which got replaced out of good will (with some persuasion) after Nissan couldn't fix it.

Nice enough, obviously being a pick-up it's not great to drive, a bit vague in the corners, but not too bad really. It's on A/T tyres now and hasn't been stuck in any muddy fields since.

At the time, it was the most powerful one around, not sure if it's the same still?

Believe he's averaging 28ish mpg.

Ford Rangers are quite nice and tuff.

My old man ran the last model, which was tuff basic but reliable

He has just sold his current model for 10 grand ish which was top spec

I drove it loads and was nice, powerful enough and would cruise at 80-95, it was the 3.0 tdi.

Interior didnt feel so tuff and seat bolsters were scuffing very easily but a nice all round truck, good performance for size. Drivers seat didnt have many positions and back seats were tiny. Good stereo and good in the mud.

it would be my choice
