changed fuel fillter now wont start pug 307 hdi
Discussion
Any advice on this matter please running out of time going on holiday tommorow afternoon so decided to service the car .
peugout 307 hdi 1600cc 90bhp on a 57 plate 21k on clock
changed fuel fillter now car just turns over and will not fire the fuel fillter is still bone dry .
what i have tried
Opening fuel injector just to make sure no air but these are self priming
checking fuses relating to fuel in owners handbook
removed everything and refited
locked it all up and left it half hour to reset
tried looking for fuel cut of switch but cant find one anywhere
any suggestions on this matter would be much appreciated before much longer as cant realy justify hiring car to go away
thanks

Is the fuel filter directional? if so, have you fitted it the right way around? If it is flow directional there should be an arrow or similar legend painted on it to indicate the 'fuel in' end.
Might sound like a sily question, but you wouldn't be the first and you won't be the last to make that mistake!
Edit: are you sure it's the correct filter? Does it look similar or identical to the old unit you've removed?

Its a sealed unit in black plastic casing that can only go one way , done the arrow pointing wrong way twice before on other cars quite easyly done
Aye, me too!If it's the correct unit, it seems odd that your car ain't running... another silly question (I like to eliminate obvious and cheap things first!): are you sure you've got fuel in the car?
Some of these suggest possible air leaks or simply ensuring the fuel pump has bled all the air out.

you need to remove the new filter & manually fill it up with fresh diesel. Refit filter, make sure battery is fully charged & then crank engine until it starts. It will probably cut out a couple of times but should then eventually run. I had the exact same problem a few months ago on the same sort of car. After probably an hour of struggling & a flat battery i finally carried out the above solution & it started almost immediately.
