How cheap can a Jag XJ be to run? This cheap.
Discussion
Well the Jag sold on Sunday-and I was sad to see it go.

Couple of reasons-its MOT was due in 2 months and I think the manifold was blowing a bit, and with 2 dogs, an estate will be better in winter.
Anyway, its been the cheapest car I have ever bought and run. I had it 8 months, and it has cost me (excl insurance) £43.75 a month
I have not spent a penny on it and its not broken down-well, we had the bad petrol issue, but thats not the cars fault and I fixed it myself.
Not bad for a Jag i think you will agree.
No replacement yet, but I know what I want and so the search begins for another bangernomic special.

It's funny but about 10 years ago I bought a V12 Series 3 Jag for £500 with MOT for a year. I drove the car daily for 6 months and it never missed a beat. Ended up swapping it for a mk1 Golf GTI that used to fill up with water everytime it rained and would only start when it felt like it.

Except that you're selling it with problems and an MOT due.Anyway, its been the cheapest car I have ever bought and run. I had it 8 months, and it has cost me (excl insurance) £43.75 a month

THus it is only the cheapest car you have owned because you aren't fixing any of the problems.

True, however, isnt that the whole point of bangernomics?THus it is only the cheapest car you have owned because you aren't fixing any of the problems.
Fact is, if I wasnt so hopeless at DIY, I would do it myself-they only become issues if you have to paya mechanic £50+ an hour.
