As I've decided to take some time out from work, I've just handed my company BMW M-Sport Coupe 335i back and was amazed to be offered it for £28,000. It's 13 months old and specced up to £47,500 list, so has managed to lose £1500 a month in depreciation eek

So this got me thinking about what I should do for transport. Got around £50,000 to spend and happy to buy second hand, although no older than 3 years maximum.

Thoughts?

This is 'around' £50k, you could get one for a little bit less and also it's over 3 years old but these are just minor details really...

Should've said, I'm not a great fan of 911s, I've had a couple and just didn't gel with them for some reason. Right idea on the sporty and fun side of things though.

I'd throw in the TVR Tuscan2 as depreciation proof also.

Audi RS6 avant??

Yeah Possibly, I thought about adding the "Super Saloons" to the list but got the feeling that its not the direction OP wants to go. If it is then the RS6, S8, M5, LFA, S65, S63, E63, C63 could all be added to the above list smile

This offers ridiculous amounts of bang/buck even if it does have a dodgy interior:

Not sure that I'd class the super saloons as depreciation proof. They command a premium over their non-super peers in their model ranges, but that just means that they depreciate marginally less badly.

A 993 would be a good bet, if the OP got on with Porsches and was prepared to go > 3 years old.

Holy crap - that's a lot of car, for not a lot (relatively) of money - that has lost, what, 25 - 30k in a year??

Probably, although not that specific one. I'll find something when I want to go back.

Why not split the £50k into two:

Ferrari 308 (can't imagine that would see any depreciation)
Audi a8 / vw phaeton
