So SWMBO has qualified to be a child minder and needs a bigger car than her current Gen 6 Celica.
She's quite fancys a 7 seater to cart them all about it and quite likes the Zafira but as there seems to be a bit of a shortage in the area of anything 1/2 decent I was wondering what else it worth a look at up to about 3k?
She keeps mentioning the C8 but the few that are in our price range are probably dodgy given others are at least 1k+ more!
Cheers

Only if you place the value your own and the safety of others extremely low.http://www.euroncap.com/tests/chrysler_voyager_199...
As this is a car that will be carrying other people's children, I'd say safety has to be pretty high up the list - if not top.
Just beacuse i'm not a big fan of MPV's, Volvo Estate....

Failing that, Avensis Verso?

An alternative to the Zafira has got to be putting your testicles in a vice and tightening it until you can no longer feel your legs and shooting yourself in the face with a ten gague shot gun.
Either that or how about this......

...old Limo's make great people carriers and you can close the partitican for the fifty second verse of the wheels go round.

I may have hit upon something here.
Eight seats, usually leather so can be wiped clean (how handy is that?).
Proper boot (with safe crumple zone).
Well built.
Well looked after (so long it's either black or silver, as white ones are wedding cars and wedding car drivers are just taxi drivers with a long wheelbase, pink ones are hen partymobiles and should be avoided like the labrini fueld dregs of society that hire them).
Cheap to insure.
Normal car feel (rather than small bus).
Normal saloon parts and servicing (mostly).
For the price of a basic minibus you can buy a high end Limo' (and convert it to lpg) that when you drop the kids to school will have everyone else in their minibusses feeling inadequate.
No man ever needs to buy an imasculation death trap on wheels ever again. You're welcome.

We had the old shape Sharan, was ok, they must be available for 3k now, that bit bigger than the Zafira.
I think the rear seat crumble zone thing is a risk but more a perceived one than one with any actual data to back it up, you are higher in the back than say in a hatchback so though your head is nearer the windows the rest of you isnt and you have a headrest, would be a very hard impact to cause that much damage and if it is you are a bit screwed in anything short of a Range Rover, certainly not heard lots of accounts of people being horribly managed in the back of Zafiras, if it bothers you just use the middle row most of the time.
