Private sale. Z4M Roadster (although I guess that's not as important to the question).

Advertising in usual places and cheapest for it's year.

I'm in no real hurry to sell, but been up for 1.5 months with only a small amount of interest.

Is the market as dead as I think for weekend toys?

Just welcome other people's thoughts...

I wouldn't want to be selling anything exotic at the moment frown

Anything small and diesel on the other hand shifts very well.

Depends how keenly priced it is, and with an M car does it have a warranty attached.

I wish that were the truth ironduke. My sister's 47k mile, 57 plate Fiesta Zetec-S TDCi hasn't moved or had a viewing in 2 months. Compared to others it's correctly priced or in some cases slightly under priced.

It's kinda like a lot of potential buyers have now just tightened their purse strings, but those left are the fickle type would would prefer a 2011 plate 2.0i Z4 over a 2008 Z4M kind of people.

Also not sure it's a weekend kinda car is it?

If I had £15,000 sat burning a hole, and knew enough about 'cars' to buy one to sit in a garage most of the time, I'd have a VX220 Turbo, Exige or Caterfield, Tamora or something...

I'd be buying that kinda car as a daily driver. The costs per se don't worry me... the problem for me as someone with that kinda money to spend/pay on running costs, is that nice 996.2 C2's are getting into that territory on costs, as are lots of TVR's. Or maybe at a push an M3 CSL etc.

Not sure if I'm an oddity of course, but they are my ponderings right now and I've got a Z4M on my 'list' as it were.

Then there is part of me that is just happy to stay put car wise right now and save money.

Hmmmm

Wow that's a good price for a AUC.

I didn't see any anywhere near that price when I originally advetrised. Mine is a year older and cheaper by £600 but more miles.

If that's the BMW going rate then I will have to reduce to make it more attractive.

Thanks for posting.

A Z4M is a daily driver in my eyes. The used car scene is quiet so you just have to wait until a buyer comes along. I always take the view that a car is worth as much as someone will pay. That means on occasion selling cars for up to 20% less than others asking price.

Life is too short to hang onto cars you no longer want.

Z4Ms have a reputation for being expensive to run, even though they aren't.

Yes, because a Z4M is so effete...

Nothing wrong with the car, the people who would tend to buy second hand performance cars are struggling, the ones who buy new seem to be still buying.

I assume you think the same of all 2 seat convertibles that you have never owned or driven?

When in fact you are probably the kind of person that when you do pass your driving test would park a Z4M in a field at the sign of some corners.

Saying that my 911 is proving nigh on impossible to sell and I ain't had much joy with my £600 puma either.. I just don't think anythings selling at the mo unless it's serious bargain money

I didn't bother biting tbh mate. Either trolling or didn't know what he was talking about. How a Rwd 340bhp 2 seater is a hairdressers car God only knows.

I might reduce it a touch but not much. I think it's more to do with there only being a few buyers for the type of car.

Regarding the comment about it not being a weekend car and that you would buy a VX220 or elise. Well that's why its for sale. I bought a super charged vx220.

Always a disastrous way to think IMO - just leads to sitting in the classifieds for months with an overpriced car, which puts off buyers anyway.

I consider myself very fortunate to have found the 'right' buyer for my Ferrari. It took over 4 months to sell, and it sold for much less than all the others advertised.

I'm now in the market for a replacement and have decided that I don't want to spend too much money given the way things are. I'm guessing there are many others in the same position as I am and are looking for bargains to protect as much as possible our pockets.

I'm in two minds as to what avenue to take; buy something like an old Range Rover or Disco for about £2-3k or something like a Cayman S / Z4M Coupe for under £20k.

The advantage of a rreal old shed is that you can't lose much money AND insurance etc is dirt cheap.

One things for sure; I won't be spending big money on a car for quite a while!

may take a while to sell. Its been long for my dad to sell his car too (944), though its priced cheaper there isnt a market for sports cars. They arent a necessity so if its a choice between a family car at that money or a less practical car,t he sports car will lose. The only way I can see a quick sale is to underprice it. Looking like the only option for us, turning to eBay with a low reseve as the only hope of gaining bids frown

I recently sold my Focus RS for around 19k. It was one of the higher mileage ones, but in immaculate condition. I deliberately priced it to be one of the cheapest for sale. I only advertised it on eBay and got lots of moronic offers of 14k etc which was annoying. It did however sell within 9 days and in the end there were 2 people fighting over it. My advice would be to advertise it very competitively, make sure it is extremely clean and write an excellent advert with good quality photos. It might sound obvious but some of the adverts out there are truly awful, it's no wonder some cars aren't selling.

Conversely a poorly written private advert can sometimes be the route to an absolute bargain car, or a dog of a 'private dealer' car too, I will concede.
